Outside Sales

Mark Sweatt
Principal & Outside Sales

  • Mark received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After Mark graduated, he went to work for Snap-On Tools. He started as an individual dealer and at the time of his departure had earned the title of Territory Manger. While he was employed with Snap-On Tools, Mark received numerous Top Sales Awards for Outstanding Performance.

    After leaving Snap-On Tools, Mark went to work for Ferguson Enterprises as an outside sale representative. During his ten years at Ferguson, Mark worked in all phases of the wholesale industry including inventory management, office operations, and management of all sales-related responsibilities. Again he received several awards including Top Sales and Top Profit Producer.

    In 1990, Mark went to work for Coleman-Russell & Associates as an outside sales representative selling to the plumbing/hardware industries in Central Alabama and East Tennessee for nine years. During his tenure there, he represented more than fifteen manufacturers in his territory before leaving in 2004.

    For the next three years, Mark worked with Ayers & Associates as an outside sales representative.

    In November 2007, Mark formed his own agency, Covenant Sales.

Kory Sweatt
Principal & Outside Sales

  • Kory is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he played collegiate ice hockey and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He has worked part time in the business since his high school days.

    After completing his education, he worked for Cornerstone/Spaces Property Management for 1-1/2 years before joining Covenant Sales.

    He currently resides in Tuscaloosa and is responsible for business development in the Northern Mississippi, Western Tennessee, and West/Central Alabama markets.

    Kory is also tasked with business development in the hardware wholesale channel, assisting Mark in personnel decisions, as well as day-to-day operations and manufacturer relations.

Cory Conner
Outside Sales

  • After attending the University of Alabama with a degree in Business Management, Cory first began his career in the fitness industry. Starting with corporate and personal training, he eventually managed training staff, client success monthly/annual financials, sales goals, and marketing.

    In 2016, Cory made a career change into the plumbing industry, by following in his father's footsteps as a manufacturer representative. Originally, he only covered the Birmingham market, slowly building relationships and expanding his territory to all of Alabama, Tennessee, and North/Central Mississippi.

    In September of 2021 Cory had the opportunity to join with Covenant Sales, and now covers North/Central Alabama and Central/East Tennessee.

    He currently lives in Hoover, AL with his wife Amber and son Declan.

Jim Kinstler
Outside Sales

  • As a graduate of the University of Missouri, Jim began his plumbing career as a third generation licensed plumber in his family’s plumbing company, begun by his grandfather in 1937.

    In 1994, he accepted an opportunity as District Sales Manager for Eljer Plumbingware for a three-state territory including Missouri, Illinois, and Southeastern Kentucky. Within six years, Jim purchased a small plumbing wholesale company in Southern Illinois.

    Prior to his eighth year of business, Jim was approached by a large wholesale company from St. Louis and sold the business at that time. He worked for another sales agency for several years before coming to work for Covenant Sales in 2009.

    Jim resides in Huntsville, AL and is responsible for business development in the Central Tennessee and Northern Alabama markets.

Brian Thomas
Outside Sales

  • Brian is a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland, TN where he studied Psychology and Bible, and also holds a Pastoral certificate from Highlands College in Birmingham, AL.

    As a new construction real estate agent specialist for fifteen years, he won numerous awards in both dollar volume and number of units sold. Brian also held an Alabama Builders license for many years where he honed his abilities on the job site as well his customer service skills in caring for the needs of his numerous customers.

    Later, working with American Companies, one of the largest homebuilders in the Southeast, also helped him develop the experience and ability to manage vendor and subcontractor accounts with excellence, making his transition to Covenant Sales a perfect fit.

    Brian has been happily married since 1997 and has two amazing boys. And if you want a quick way to his heart, just start up a conversation about music or Alabama football.

John Fowler
Outside Sales

  • John got his start at a very young age in the industry. As a kid, he spent time shadowing his father, Kip, who was in the ground water/drilling supply business for more than 50 years.

    In the summer of 1997, John went to work as a warehouse associate at a water well supply company. Eventually, he worked his way up into an inside sales position, and in 2002 he progressed to manage his own outside sales territory.

    John went on stay with that same company for almost 20 years until leaving for another position in 2015. He remained in outside sales and eventually worked his way into a branch manager position.

    In October 2022, John came to work for Covenant Sales.

    He resides in Maryville TN and covers East Tennessee, parts of middle Tennessee, and North Georgia.

Jake Carter
Outside Sales

  • Jake received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Auburn University.

    Before joining Covenant Sales, Jake spent 3 years at KIA Manufacturing working as a Procurement Specialist. He managed over $30 million dollars of company assets, tracking part supply and lead-times across 3 different countries - without ever recording any down time.

    Jake currently resides in Auburn, Alabama, but plans to relocate to Georgia in early 2024 to better serve his region. He is responsible for business development in the central Georgia market.

William Hall
Outside Sales

  • William is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a BBA in Marketing .

    Upon graduation, William began his career in the plumbing wholesale distribution business in 2000 where he experienced roles in sales and management. Through these years he obtained a wealth of knowledge of not only the plumbing industry but HVAC and utilities as well.

    He later decided to make a career change into a manufacturers sales role. He came on board with Covenant Sales in 2024. William’s territory includes Mississippi and segments of Louisiana.

    William has been happily married to his wife, Kristen, since 2003. They have 2 boys, Reece and Riley. He enjoys spending his time away from work with his family with outdoor hobbies such as hunting and boating.

Inside Sales

Debbie Woods
Inside Sales & Customer Service

  • Debbie began work in 1982 as an inventory control clerk for Piping and Equipment Corporation. While at P&E, she worked with numerous manufacturers, wholesalers, and plumbing contractors in several different capacities ranging from inventory control to purchasing, to customer service and even accounting.

    In the fall of 2000, she went to work for Coleman-Russell & Associates where she was tasked with accounting, buy-sell inventory management, and calculations of sales commissions to be paid to outside representatives.

    Debbie began working with Mark at Covenant Sales from day one, November 1st, 2007, through the present.

Cathryn Johnson
Inside Sales

  • Cathryn came to Covenant Sales in 2015 from RLS Design Group, Inc. where she was the Office Manager and Executive Assistant to Rodney Sartain. She was responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll as well as generating proposals, contracts, project schedules, and employee schedules. She managed the employee insurance coverage with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, scheduled office learning seminars and created marketing proposals using GFS software.

    She is a 2005 graduate of Mississippi State University with the honor of achieving Magna Cum Laude status.

    In her role at Covenant Sales, she is involved in all day-to-day inside sales and customer service tasks.

JJ Lovett
Inside Sales & Customer Service

  • JJ joined the company in early 2023, with 10 years of experience as an emergency dispatcher. In the decade she performed this demanding job, she was responsible for receiving emergency calls and relaying pertinent information to first responders in a timely manner, to potentially save the lives of the parties involved.

    In addition, she administered pre-arrival instructions to callers, provided emergency medical directions to those with medical emergencies, recorded data entry, executed various administrative duties, and dispatched the police and fire personnel to all calls for service.

    Her attention to detail, years of experience with multiple agencies, and strong work ethic made her a perfect candidate to fill the position of inside sales representative within our department in January of 2023.

    When she isn’t at work she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her husband and young daughter.

Leann Smitherman
Inside Sales & Customer Service

  • Leann graduated cum laude from Troy University with a bachelors in Anthropology and a Minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). During her education, Leann worked with both the archaeology and the GIS department on a project to find potential archaeological sites. She participated in fieldwork as well as writing reports and processing data.

    After college Leann went on to become the STEM and computer Literacy teacher for a private school in the Birmingham area.

    She grew up in Decatur, Alabama, and currently resides in Pelham, Alabama. Leann began work at Covenant Sales in 2023 as an inside sales representative.

Administrative

Kelsey VanSickle
Bookkeeping & Customer Service

  • Kelsey graduated from Troy University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security and minor in Sociology. After graduation, Kelsey followed a family tradition of serving her nation and community, both in the military and in law enforcement. She served in the Alabama Army National Guard and in several law enforcement capacities in the Birmingham area.

    As a Detective, Kelsey utilized her organizational skills, interpersonal skills, ability to produce detailed findings and reports, and effective caseload management skills. In 2023, she decided to change directions and utilize those same skills as the Bookkeeper for Covenant Sales.

    Kelsey currently resides in Pelham, AL with her husband and their beloved dogs.
